Project Description:

The Moody Center, the multi-purpose, state-of-the-art venue is located in the heart of downtown Austin. Moody Center is home to top concert tours and international music shows featuring the biggest artists, as well as popular sporting events including UT Austin’s Women’s and Men’s basketball games. The seating capacity of the facility for basketball is approx. 10,300. The  music arena is 530,000 GSF with 16,000-seat arena. The venue fully immerses guests in the Austin-authentic live music experience.

Our Fire Protection scope of work included: fire-suppression systems included fire standpipes and hose valves throughout, as well as wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action fire-sprinkler systems. The fire-alarm system included strobe and voice notification, textual notification at the ribbon board in the arena, and an interface with the University of Texas mass notification system, smoke detection for interface with the building’s smoke evacuation and stair pressurization systems, and monitoring and emergency override of numerous other building and life safety systems. These included chemical fire-suppression at kitchen hoods, grease-scrubbers, and other cooking equipment, elevator control, HVAC equipment, security and access control, event power, lighting control, and the building management system. Construction administration services included quality-control review of shop drawings, product data, and calculations from the contractors, guidance and direction on RFIs, and regular on-site representation and documentation throughout construction.
