University of Texas – Lee and Joe Jamail Swim Center HVAC & Pool Basin Renovation – Austin, Texas
Project Description:
The swim center is a premiere competitive, recreational, and educational aquatic facility. Project involved the complete replacement of all building heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in this world class swim center as well as renovations to the pool basin. Sophisticated air flow modeling was utilized to analyze and design replacement ventilation systems and avoid issues with suspended chloramines that were previously experienced. BIM modeling was utilized in order to accurately coordinate and detail the demolition and installation of HVAC components within existing and difficult to access building spaces. Named in 1993 for benefactors Lee and Joe Jamail, the Texas Swimming Center provides The University of Texas at Austin with one of the world’s finest facilities for all known events in competitive swimming, diving and water polo. It is modeled after the pool used in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
