Owner: Austin Energy
Contact Person: Rich Wilks | Superintendent, On-Site Energy Resources
Date Completed: March 2018
Construction Cost: $10,000,000
Project Description:

The project scope included the replacement of an existing 15,000 ton cooling tower assembly and condenser water distribution system. The Guerra team worked closely with the design and construction team to develop a construction phasing plan that was designed to maintain the plant in operation throughout the construction process. The tower replacement project included an in depth review of the existing SCADA and PLC system to develop a growth plan for the plant and complement the overall control system design. We provided controls for condenser water pumps and sand filter, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, a chemical storage shed and central plant controls.

The Civil Engineering scope included erosion & sediment controls, demolition of existing concrete slabs, sidewalks, footings, and asphalt pavement; construction of new slab-on-grade concrete, retaining walls, handrails, asphalt replacement and overlay, and re-grading. Work consisted of utility improvements including the demolition or modification of underground storm, water and wastewater lines.
