Project Description:
Austin Fire Department Renovations and additions to existing EMS stations, 1, 5, 7, 10, 13 for the City of Austin.
EMS Station One, the nation’s first freestanding municipal EMS station (built in 1982), underwent a comprehensive renovation to modernize operations and improve staff well-being. Upgrades include private dorms, expanded ambulance bays, improved mechanical systems, backup power, and enhanced living spaces. The design incorporates evidence-based alerting systems that reduce stress and support long-term health. The renovated facility increases capacity and operational efficiency, enabling faster emergency response while supporting future growth. The project also reinforces community engagement through public training programs and commemorates the station’s legacy with a planned reopening and future-oriented elements.
