LCRA Redbud Emergency Operations Center – Austin, Texas

Owner: Lower Colorado River Authority
Contact Person: Guy Dawes | Project Manager
Date Completed: August 2007
Construction Cost: $10,500,000
Project Description:

New 35,000 sq. ft., three-story emergency operations center complete with office, computer training, assembly and conference spaces, and an interpretive park.  This project included a complete new onsite utility production and distribution system including a 200 ton chilled water thermal energy plant and chilled water distribution system. New mechanical systems were designed to meet building demand loads including N+1 redundancy. A complete DDC instrumentation and controls package was designed and produced for the building including detailed control diagrams, sequence of operations and detailed points list.  Controls for this package ranged from individual VAV box unitary controllers to complete custom variable speed screw chilled water production systems with complex sequences involving multiple variables including space temperature, space % RH, space pressure, mixed air enthalpy, outside air enthalpy, mixed air dew-point and air velocity.  The DDC system was fully integrated into the campus front end building control system.
