Construction Cost: $8,500,000
Project Description:

The Southern Walnut Creek Trail is a planned 7.3 mile trail along the Walnut Creek Greenbelt.  The trail is Austin’s longest paved non-motor-vehicular pathway.  The entire trail is constructed of 10-foot-wide concrete sidewalks with 2-foot-wide grass shoulders. The project includes the construction of 5 bridges, 3 elevated boardwalks, signage, benches, parking lots at trailheads and access to other amenities. The trail primarily follows Walnut Creek from Govalle Park (East Austin) to Walter E. Long Park (North Austin). Jose I. Guerra, Inc. provided the design for a elevated boardwalk as a unique solution to the surrounding terrain as it was potentially unstable.
