University of North Texas – College of Music MEIT & Recital Hall – Denton, Texas

Owner: University of North Texas
Contact Person: BRW Architects | Craig Reynolds
Date Completed: January 2020
Construction Cost: $2.5M
Project Description:

The project scope was a renovation of the Recital Hall and the MEIT, both separate spaces within the UNT Music Building. The project included demolishing the ductwork in both spaces back to the air handlers, adding a hot water reheat coil to each of the air handlers, and the design of new air distribution for the spaces to improve acoustics. The main objective of these renovations aside from a bit of an architectural face lift was acoustical performance. The Guerra team specified duct sound attenuators and controlled air velocities and pressure drops to meet strict sound requirements set forth by the acoustical engineer.
