University of Texas – McCombs School of Business – Robert B. Rowling Hall – Austin, Texas
The McCombs School of Business is home to the new 497,500 s.f. Graduate School of Business, that includes 17 classrooms, 23 conference rooms, 21 interview rooms, 80 study/breakout rooms, 15,000 square foot ballroom and 6 stories of parking (below grade). The facility is located across from the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center and will serve as a hub for graduate students to connect with peers, faculty members, and recruiters.
The Civil engineering services included public and private utilities, stormwater treatment and detention, drainage and grading, site permitting through the City of Austin, right-of-way vacation and SWPPP.
It was determined that the vacation and subsequent purchase of the right-of-way area from the City to allow the surface and underground physical connection and integration with the AT&T Executive Training Center was critical to the success of the overall project. Our civil team was responsible for preparing full construction plans and permitting for the routing of existing City water, sewer and stormdrain lines into MLK and Guadalupe and 20th Streets around the site, from the vacated section of Whitis street and alley through the site. This also included relocation and providing new duct banks in right-of-ways for other utilities including telecommunications, power and data.
Due to the site constraints, we designed an underground stormwater detention vault for stormwater peak attenuation and a sand filter basin for stormwater treatment.
We designed routing plans and profiles, using Civil 3-D software, for the expansion of the UT Campus thermal utilities loop through several blocks of City right-of-ways to provide service to the Rowling Hall.
Jose I. Guerra Inc. provided complete civil engineering design and construction administration services.
