University of Texas – Moody College of Communication Building A – Air Handler Replacement – Austin, Texas

Owner: University of Texas System
Contact Person: Bart Kleiman
Date Completed: 2013
Construction Cost: $2,500,000
Project Description:

Replacement of a two story 100,000 CFM built up dual duct air handling unit in an occupied 7 story higher education building. An existing 40 year old air handling unit was removed and a new state of the art built up unit designed and installed within the existing basement level mechanical room footprint. This project was performed for the University of Texas and represents a variety of creative design elements that we would expect could be encountered in a typical rotation list assignment; Building HVAC load analysis, mechanical system assessment and or system replacements, electrical power and lighting system renovations, creative life safety design solutions and control system modifications and integration. All elements of this project were designed in accordance with published University design standards. The End Result was a well coordinated custom air handling unit installed in an existing basement space consistent with campus design standards.  The new air handling unit improved building efficiency, reliability, facilities access and controllability.
